Don't Be Fooled, I Don't Always Look This "Put Together" At University

Looking at these pictures, you are probably thinking, “wow this girl really has her life in order?” HA! Let me stop you there. This girl is barely getting by. Most days I run out my room in sweatpants and a hoodie. I am not going to lie to you and say I always look this put together Monday through Friday. Sometimes, I try to look decent but most times I just trying not to be late to class. This look is my ideal perfect rainy day/Fall go-to. I say “ideal” because that doesn’t always happen. I love the combination of feminine looks with an edge. I toughed up this dress by throwing on my leather jacket and boots. I love these boots because they double has rain boots! Stylish rain boots because I hate the traditional chunky rain boots. Anyways… what is your ideal Fall look? What trends are you looking forward to trying out?

Oliver Winery - Bloomington, Indiana Travel Guide #1

Today, I bring you a new blog series. I teamed up with the amazing people at Visit Bloomington to take you around some amazing spots around Bloomington, Indiana. If you do not know, Bloomington is a college town and home to Indiana University. Go, Hoosiers! I attend IU and I graduate this semester. Before I leave Bloomington, I wanted to take you around to show you some of my old and new favorites.

Before we start, let me start by saying I do not know anything about wine. Well… I know it comes in white and in red. That’s as far as my wine knowledge goes. Now, let’s begin! Visiting Oliver Winery was amazing. It was nothing like I have ever experienced. My friends and I had the pleasure to go wine tasting as well as explore their vineyards. Eurielle and I did all of the wine tasting while Dara watched from the sidelines (Hang in there, Dara! You will be 21 soon). The whole experience was wonderful and surprisingly informative. We learned there are various kinds of wines from hard wines to semi-sweet. Our favorite were the dessert wines. I didn’t know wine could be super sweet! Eurielle and I loved the sweet wines. After tasting 8 (it might have been 9. I got a little tipsy) different wines, we decided to head to the vineyards. Dara drove for obvious  reasons.

Oliver Winery & Vineyards is a Bloomington treasure. Started in the 1960s in the basement of Indiana University law professor, William Oliver. Over the years, Oliver Winery & Vineyards has grown to be a popular destination and known for their exquisite wines.

Plan Your Visit
Explore their beautiful vineyards or drink delicious wines in their tasting rooms. Make sure to check their hours and book your appointment in advance. Definitely bring your camera! Stepping foot on their grounds instantly turns into a photoshoot. Everything is unbelievably gorgeous. Find more information here.

Formal Attire - An Alternative From Dresses

Growing up, I was the biggest tomboy. I hated wearing dresses and skirts. I think I only hated wearing dresses because I didn’t think they were practical. I liked running around and being active. When it comes to formal events, I love seeing women in new and innovative outfits that are not dresses. Don’t get me wrong, as I’ve gotten older I started liking dresses (I still don’t think they are practical. One wrong move and your underwear is on display for the world) although I love pieces that show elegance and I don’t have to worry about crossing my legs. That is why I think ruffled flared trousers are the next party go-to. The pair I’m wearing are one of the most comfortable things in my wardrobe. I love how the ruffles move with each step. I threw on this pleated off-the-shoulder top to add another elegance factor of the look. What do you think? Are ruffled flared trousers the next big thing?

Top Casual Dress Picks From Rosegal

1 // 2 // 3 // 4
One thing, I love doing during Fall is layering dresses with sweaters and jackets. Here are my top casual dresses from Rosegal. My favorite would have to be Number 2 because it is very basic and easy to style. Number 4 is my reality. I live in sweatshirts and sweatpants, so having a "sweat dress" is a great in-between. The lovely people at Rosegal gave me a discount code to share with y’all. Check out their site and use the code RGEN before you pay. Enjoy!

Life Update, It's been a while. Hasn't it?

I haven’t been really good with chatting with you guys. The original concept of a blog was for one to share what is happening in their life. Recently, Marveling Mind has been focused heavily on fashion, which I don’t mind. I love sharing my style but once in a while I want share what is happening with me. So… where should I begin? Well, I’m finishing my last semester of undergrad and the idea of graduating is terrifying. I’m trying to enjoy each day and not worry too much about the future. My friends and family know, I am the kind of person that plans too far ahead and needs to know what the future holds. Although, I am at a point in my life where I can not predict my future. I can only work hard and hope for the best, which is scary.

Besides my uncontrollable fear of the future, I started my new internship working for my university’s communications office. We are in charge of all news and media related to the university. Which is amazing! The whole communications team is wonderful. Everyone is extremely hardworking but they also know how to have fun. I was nervous before joining the team but they are all so welcoming and l’m loving I do. It is great having a job that each day is different and I enjoy the content I am producing. Aside from work, I am also enjoying my classes. I am in a lot of creative classes. I love having an outlet besides Marveling Mind to pour my creative juices into. I am taking a photojournalism course and a graphic design course. Both courses require a lot of innovative thinking and push me to think outside the box.

Right now, life is really good. Per usual, I am really missing my family. I haven’t seen my mum seen Christmas, which is tough. We text and video chat everyday. She's my bestie! I’m going to see her this December for my graduation! Which will make it, a whole year since I last saw her but it’s all good. I know she will be reading this. So, I don’t want her to start freaking out, thinking I’m sad (mummy I’m good, stop worrying lol). I can’t wait for my post graduation trip with my mum and brother. We haven’t figured out the exact details. As long as, I get to be with them I’ll be happy. Oh! As for my brother, I’m so proud of him. He has been doing extremely well with school and football. I just read an article about him that was published at his university. Can you believe it?! They are publishing articles about my silly little bro.  Anyways… I think I have caught you guys up with what’s going on with me. If you made it this far, I’m giving you a virtual hug!

Now, let me know what’s happening with you. How’s life?

Transforming Your Summer Pieces For Fall

Fall is here! I repeat, Fall is here! My favorite season is here!!! Today’s post is showing you how to prep your summer wardrobe for autumn. I'm letting you know that you do not have to say goodbye to your favorite summer pieces. Just because the temperature drops a couple of degrees. The trick is the layering! I think I say this way to often but having a solid jacket can change the vibe of an outfit. You can see from how adding a leather jacket over from my gingham top completely toughen it up and made it weather appropriate. Gingham print was a huge trend this spring/summer and I am a firm believer in incorporating trendy pieces into timeless outfits. How do you plan to transform your summery pieces for fall?
