The Power Of Statement Earrings

I used to think the only time to wear statement jewelry was during formal events. Since, I don’t spend a lot of my time attending galas and banquets I don’t wear bold jewelry on a regular basis. After scrolling through Instagram and reading countless fashion blogs I realized that jewelry is not just for formal occasions. In fact, it can take a boring everyday outfit and give it that extra touch to elevate the look. If you go through my pervious posts starting from August, you can see I have been slowly incorporating statement earrings to my causal outfits. I am loving this change! What do you think about adding more statement jewelry to your everyday looks?

SOMA Coffee House & Juice Bar - Bloomington, Indiana Travel Guide #2

Need your caffeine fix? I got you! Check out SOMA Coffee House & Juice Bar. SOMA has three locations around Bloomington. My favorite is the cute coffee spot a couple minutes from the Indiana University campus on Kirkwood Ave. Where you will find students studying or Bloomington locals grabbing their coffee on their way to work. I love how cozy it is inside and at night the sitting area outside is stunning with the twinkly lights. I spend a lot of my time taking pictures outside SOMA, which you can see here. If you are in the neighborhood stop by SOMA and I recommend their mochas or hot chocolate with a dash of cayenne pepper. It’s an odd combo but the pepper adds and extra kick. Don’t forget to ask for whipped cream. Yum!

Made In Africa

Happy Monday! Another busy week begins. This past weekend, I got to take some pictures around town wearing my new ‘Made In Africa’ sweatshirt. I love anything that highlights Africa in a positive light. Personally, the phrase ‘Made In Africa’ means to have your roots and identity tied to Africa. Being Nigerian American, I take pride in Africa and her people. It genuinely brings me joy when I see Africans and people from the diaspora thriving and living their best lives. It brings me joy because many institutions are not made for us to succeed. You can read more about my background here but being African is not simply being born on the continent. There is so much more to being African. There is so much love and beauty that Africa has to share and part of being African is embodying that love and beauty.
